IGAD Media Awards Open (Djibouti, Ethiopia and Eritrea)

Journalists and freelancers from Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Uganda can compete for awards.

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) is accepting entries for the IGAD Media Awards. The awards seek to recognize and reward excellence in reporting on matters related to drought resilience in the IGAD region.

Applicants must submit works that explore the benefits of bilateral and/or multilateral cooperation in the fight against drought effects through a range of lenses, including food security, climate change, ecosystems management, water resources management, migration, regional investment projects, and more.

Works published or broadcast between Jan. 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023 must be submitted in the following categories: print, audio, photography journalism, audio-visual, digital, and foreign media.

Winners will receive prizes and be recognized during and an awards ceremony in October.

The deadline is July 31.
