Comparing Gender and Media Equality Across the Globe: Understanding the Qualities, Causes, and Consequences

Summary

Gender equality in the media is a global issue that the United Nations has highlighted as one of the critical issues for the future, specifically through the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action from 1995, where women and the media is one of twelve areas where the action is to be taken. The “Comparing Gender and Media Equality Across the Globe” research project employs a cross-national, comparative methodology to investigate the characteristics, causes, and consequences of gender equality in and through the news media.
